Celebrating 30 Years of Smokers Delight.

It’s always a pleasure to do something special around the Smokers Delight anniversary. This time, I had the idea to invite some incredible contemporary artists to bring their vibes and jam on a track of their choice from the album.

I discovered the amazing Eléwa on YouTube, asked her to pick a song, and she chose “Wait A Minute.” Her rendition gave the track a fresh new flavor, she’s truly an incredible artist, and I’m proud to shine a light on her as part of this celebration.

We’re also honoured to have the soulful Jordan Stephens onboard. I reached out to him, and he picked a track from the album to jam on. Jordan, known from Rizzle Kicks, also starred in the Smokers Delight short film released on the 25th anniversary, so it felt right to have him add his touch to “Groove St.”

We put it together freestyle, Jordan sent his vocals recorded on his phone, and we worked on the track from there. The result is something for the true herbalists.

The Natural Yogurt Band - Parasol

The Natural Yogurt Band, a mysterious and surprising music project arising from English countryside, has beautifully constructed a musical Parasol with this new album—not just a traditional sunshade, but a metaphorical shield (“para” in Latin) against visual dischord, noise, the ultra sonic spectrum, and generally all things unwanted.

Parasol, composed by Miles Newbold—one of the most unique and fascinating figures in the contemporary neo-library psychedelic jazz fusion scene—was recorded in rural Derbyshire, nestled between hills and trees. The result is unmistakably singular, carrying The Natural Yogurt Band’s wild yet perfectly balanced signature sound: raw-edged compositions, solid but fragile textures, and heavy drum. All of it is framed by Newbold’s exceptional and uncompromising production style, which functions, fittingly, as a parasol—a protective barrier against the modern world’s relentless disturbances.

Sonor Music Editions beautifully bridges the gap between the past and present, with this album, by featuring an original paintings by Italian artist Vivì as the cover art. Vivì is renowned for creating iconic covers for 1970s library releases such as Paolo Casa’s Nature (Wild Cat – WC 114), Movimenti (Full Records – FRLP 5099), and Origini (Leo Records – LR 21), and Domenico Guaccero’s La Cattedrale del Benessere (Abramo Allione – A.A. 1010), among others.

FaltyDL - Neurotica

It’s been ten years since Drew Lustman aka FaltyDL last released on Planet Mu. In the meantime he's been running his own label Blueberry Records, been in-house producer for Mykki Blanco and has become a dad. 

The best things come out of play and it was Drew’s relationship with his young daughter that switched on this playful side of his music. The album in question, ‘Neurotica,’ expresses Drew’s fun in creating such energetic pieces people will want to move to. It's a dizzying sugar-rush at a high-speed bounce; the music is fresh and inviting and most important of all, joyful.

"Summer of ’24, we were in Catalonia. My girl, our young daughter, the old folks. Days by the village pool, afternoons on the dirtbike. At night, I made salads. Simple things. Good things. One afternoon, lying back, phone in hand, I saw a friend post a GRWM. The music behind it stopped me. A song grabbed hold. The track was ‘Secret’ by Mietze Conte, which is fast-paced euro-pop dance music, like soft fluffy gabber with childlike vocals. I hunted down the full version. Played it again. And again. Twenty times over the next few days. It unlocked something. The best music does that. Like the first time I heard Burial. Had to know what was happening under the surface. That time, it led to ‘Love Is A Liability’ in 2009. This time, it led to ‘Neurotica.’“

“I started to record, getting down fast, bright, sugar-rush sounds. 185 to 200 BPM. I wrote them quick—half a day per track. In between, I slowed things down. Gave space for breath. Mike Paradinas helped shape the album, his ear guiding the flow. I tested the tracks. Played them for kids barely out of diapers and grown folks who still move like they are. It worked, on all ages. I kept it simple. Only two rules: keep it moving and don’t look at my phone. Cut the vocals like I used to.”

‘Neurotica’ is FaltyDL with his mojo refreshed, a new life squared, do yourself a favour, crack a smile and feel the joy.

SHOLTO - Live at Total Refreshment Centre

Celebrating one year since his first live show as 'SHOLTO', the Hackney-based cinematic composer returns with his first live recording. Recorded at the legendary studio and community space Total Refreshment Centre in East London, SHOLTO 'Live at TRC' recruits his close collaborators for an immersive performance of tracks from across his catalog, featuring glistening harp tones, swaying strings and SHOLTO himself anchoring the performance on drums.

Tortoise - Oganesson Remixes

The Oganesson Remixes EP follows the March 2025 release of the “Oganesson” digital single, which was the first new music released by Tortoise since 2016. The EP includes the original version of “Oganesson” alongside five new remixes of the track created by collaborators and friends of the band, including poet and activist Saul Williams, prolific mastering engineer Heba Kadry, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, indie music icons Broken Social Scene, and International Anthem labelmate Makaya McCraven. The Oganesson Remixes EP comes ahead of a new album by Tortoise, which will be released this fall via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records.

Frollen Music Library - 88 Keys But None Fit The Lock

88 Keys But None Fit The Lock is a haunting collection of piano-driven compositions that pay homage to the atmospheric and spine-chilling world of Italian Giallo film scores.

Drawing inspiration from the same golden era of Italian cinema that influenced The Fretted Neck, this collection shifts focus to the upright piano, creating dark and suspenseful arrangements that echo through empty corridors and descend spiral staircases. Each composition marries the percussive intimacy of felt hammers on steel strings with complementary instrumentation to craft a sonic palette perfect for contemporary productions seeking that distinctive Giallo atmosphere.

This sample pack features a rich palette of instruments expertly arranged and performed: the intimacy of a vintage upright piano takes centre stage, complemented by uniquely textured Kangaroo-hide drums, electric and nylon guitars, resonant vibraphone, Hammond organ, clavinet, and assorted percussion. The compositions pay deliberate homage to the masterful Giallo soundtracks of Italian composers Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni, and Piero Umiliani, channelling their distinctive approach to creating tension and atmosphere.

All compositions are meticulously labelled with BPM and key information, performed on vintage instruments, and recorded through FML's signature signal chain of Langevin and Flickenger-style preamps and carefully selected vintage microphones. This approach ensures the highest audio fidelity while maintaining the warm, analog character of the original space-age era.
