The original Awakening album is a carefully sculpted fusion of jazz, folk, Afro-diasporic and electronic influences, grounded in Àbáse’s roots yet expansive in vision. In the hands of his collaborators, these tracks evolve, taking on new life. From Budapest’s underground beats (BluntOne, Thomas High) to South Africa’s raw, hypnotic rhythms (Sundé), Brazils’s baile funk, London’s soulful house pulses (D'Monk), Detroit’s rap (Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson) and Berlin and LA’s abstract textures (Petter Eldh, Mekala Session) - each remix tells a new story, honouring the spirit of Awakening, yet challenging the listener to hear its essence in unexpected ways.
The project will also be released on a limited vinyl run of 300 copies.
