Footshooter follows up his acclaimed 2025 album The Oasis with a new
four-track EP of remixes. The Oasis (Remixes) sees re-imaginings by some
of the UK’s most vital club innovators: Last Nubian, Marla Kether,
Fiyahdred, and Anja Ngozi.
Originally described by Footshooter as “a collection of moods from the
last three years” and rooted in collaboration, The Oasis blends broken
beat, house, jazz and spoken word with contributions from artists
including Allysha Joy, Native, MA.MOYO and James Mollison of Ezra
Collective. On The Oasis (Remixes), that spirit of collaboration
deepens, this time by opening the music up to friends and peers, each
bringing their own unique touch.
Last Nubian kicks things off with a playful, funk-laced version of
Boomerang feat. Native & Wilf Petherbridge, describing it as “a
funky stomper with the intention to take you on a journey.” Known for
releases on Touching Bass and Eglo Records, and for his live project
Ships of the Pharaohs, Last Nubian injects the track with warmth and
bounce while staying true to its soulful roots.
Marla Kether reworks Folding feat. Allysha Joy into a deep house cut,
built around “signature driving basslines and Latin percussion” while
keeping Allysha’s powerful vocal at the centre.
The London-born bassist, producer and DJ has played with everyone from
Loyle Carner to Obongjayar, while her solo work has drawn acclaim from
Crack, Mary Anne Hobbs, Jamz Supernova and DJ Mag. Winner of Youth
Music’s 2024 Producer of the Year, Marla brings her global dancefloor
energy to Footshooter’s groove.
On Surrey Canal Road feat. James Mollison, Fiyahdred adds a summer-ready
swing. “This song just sounds like a summer groove! Such a beautiful
track to work on - it came together with ease. Truly excited to hear
this outside,” they explain. A boundary-pushing voice in UK club music,
Fiyahdred (fka Bamz) blends UK funky, house and Afro-Caribbean
influences into a sound that celebrates Black and queer legacies in
dance music.
Finally, Anja Ngozi brings her free-thinking, genre-bending vision to
What You Saw feat. MA.MOYO & Mahon. Known for her productions, DJ
sets and soundtracks for Tate Modern, ICA and V&A, as well as
collaborations with Tirzah, Wu-Lu and Puma Blue, Anja reimagines the
track in her own boundary-blurring style, weaving between club energy
and artful abstraction.
