Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti - International Anthem @ Public Records (Volume 11)

International Anthem @ Public Records (Volume 11) continues the live-document series that International Anthem and Qobuz began in 2022 at Brooklyn’s Public Records. Every show in the series is recorded in the venue’s acoustically superior Sound Room, with excerpts released in hi-res on Qobuz. This instalment features Bolivian-born vocalist and multi-media artist Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Puerto Rican drummer Frank Rosaly performing two pieces from their 2024 debut duo album MESTIZX: “Writing With Knots” and “Sirinus”.

MESTIZX itself was conceived as a meditation on decolonization and the defiant power of ritual and protest, drawing on the duo’s Bolivian, Brazilian and Puerto Rican roots. The live band here, per Qobuz credits, adds bass, keyboards, autoharp, clarinet, trumpet and a second percussionist to the duo’s voice, drums and synthesizers. Neither label nor Qobuz states when or where the recordings were made; the most likely source is the duo’s New York debut at Public Records on April 1, 2025, but this is an inference, not a confirmed fact.
